The city is located north of Interstate 65 only 7 minutes from downtown Birmingham. It is one of the fastest growing communities in Jefferson County. With the current administration there has been more development and growth in the past three years than in the history of Fultondale. As we go into the twenty first century, the plan for more business and residential growth are around the corner.
Convenient Attractions for everyone to enjoy include: Visionland Water Park and Rides, Birmingham Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Red Mountain Museum, Birmingham Museum of Arts, Sports Hall of Fame, McWane Center, and The Alabama State Fair. You can also be at any of the six major shopping malls within twenty minutes.
For sports fans the following attractions are convenient to Fultondale residents: Legion Field College Football Stadium, Birmingham Bulls Hockey Team, Birmingham Barons Baseball Team, UAB College Blazers (Basketball, Baseball, Football, and Soccer. The Birmingham International Raceway and Lassiter Mountain Racetrack are also conveniently located to Fultondale. The Talladega Speedway which is the largest speedway in the world and home of the Talladega 500. Talladega is located only 45 minutes from Fultondale.
The Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center is home to the following events: Concerts, The Boat Show, The Southern Women's Show, The Barnum and Bailey Circus, The Disney on Ice Show, The Home and Garden Show, Christmas Village Craft Show, Tractor Pulls, Gun/Knife Shows, Broadway Shows, and more.
To keep our city clean and beautiful, we employee fourteen full time employees to maintain our streets and park facilities. We presently have one limb/brush truck, various vehicles to maintain the streets and parks, and one backhoe for maintaining the right-of-ways and installing driveway pipe.
The city offers free limb and leaf pickup service twice a month. The truck runs on the east side of Highway 31 during the first and third week of each month. During the second and fourth weeks the truck's route is on the west side of Highway 31.
For a nominal fee the street department will install driveway pipe for local residents. Upon inspection the city provides repaving of driveway's located on the city right-of-way.
