Located in central Marshall County, Alabama, is the City of Guntersville – currently celebrating its 150th anniversary, making it one of the oldest cities in the state. Named after an ancestor of comic-philosopher Will Rogers, Guntersville is located on a peninsula with the Tennessee River to the north and large lake on its east and west side. The mountains in the distance compliment the waters by projecting a perpetual, soothing setting found in very few cities anywhere. Guntersville's city schools continually rank in the top five in the state of Alabama and its central location offers an easy ride to higher learning institutions such as Snead State Junior College; the University of Alabama in Huntsville; Alabama A&M; Gadsden State and Jacksonville State University.
