Oxford, Alabama is located in Calhoun County, which is situated in the foothills of the beautiful Appalachian Mountain Range. Located just one hour from Birmingham, Alabama and ninety minutes from Atlanta, Georgia, Oxford offers a place large enough to provide every opportunity but small enough to know your neighbors.

There are many routes for travel to and from Oxford. Known as the "Crossroads to the Future", Oxford has several major highways leading into it, including Interstate 20, U.S. Highways 431, 21 and 78, as well as the Municipal Airport. The County is home to three industrial parks and more than 150 industries, but the greatest advantage is the people.

Oxford is known throughout the county as the retail capital center and has the Quintard Mall. You might want to spend an afternoon browsing through treasures of years past. Oxford is the home of three large antique stores, which are located on Highway 78 East.

The Oxford School System has all schools fully accredited by the Alabama State Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. C E Hanna School focuses on Grades 1-3, Oxford Middle School: houses Grades KG-and Oxford High School deals with Grades 7-12. There are also many private schools in the area for all grades. Jacksonville State University is well within commuting distance, and there is Gadsden State Community College as well as Ayers State Technical College within a few minutes of Oxford.

Oxford Lake Park is where many families find themselves over the weekend, it offers so many activities, including a children's playground, 3 tennis courts, 7 covered picnic pavilions, horseshoe pits and volleyball area, and a swimming pool. Also included is a par 3 golf course with driving range, and 2 separate ball complexes consisting of 4 softball fields and 5 baseball fields along with batting and pitching cages. A .67-mile walking track encompasses Oxford Lake, is a great way to see the lake and enjoy the sights.

Every 4th of July, Oxford celebrates with a bang, right here on the lake! In fact, it is a full day event with fun and festivities all day long, followed by the annual fireworks display that night!!

This is a great place to live for commuters to Birmingham, or even if you work in the area. Homes are very reasonably priced too, with the average home in the city costing $120,000. Many starter homes sell for less than that, and custom homes are being built, and they can cost more, but rest assured, there is something here to suit every budget!
