Population: 12,924 Located in Jefferson County

In Trussville you will find residents whose families have lived here for generations, living side by side with newcomers to the area. Old and young, from a variety of backgrounds and income levels have one thing in common - a love for their city and a pride in what it has been and what it is becoming.

Once one of the better-kept secrets of the county, Trussville is now among the fastest growing towns in Alabama. Since 1993 the city has issued over 200 residential permits per year. And Trussville is a perfect place to do business. The recent opening of two major shopping centers has made living there more convenient than ever, and new businesses are finding a customer base that is growing daily.

Trussville is older than Birmingham, mostly built in the 1920s and '30s, when towns were more like villages, with tree-lined streets, sidewalks where children could ride bikes and skate (not roller-blade), and where new mothers could congregate and talk to the neighbors, even walk to the local store for bread, milk and tomatoes in season.

It wasn't exactly a European village, or a neighborhood community likes those famous in the urban areas of the Northeast. It was a little more spread-out, taking its influence from the agricultural landscape it was rapidly replacing. As recently as the 1990 census, Trussville had only 3,500 residents. At least 12,000 make their homes there now.

Education: Trussville is trying to maintain a small-town feel while providing services and conveniences that rival their larger neighbors. They manage to do this while maintaining schools with high academic standards and a reputation for excellence.

Recreation: Located in the heart of Trussville you will find Trussville's sport complex that boasts 19 fields, walking areas, and a tennis complex.

Trussville Racquet Club: This facility has six hard courts, four clay courts and full-service pro shop. Bea Clark, a Certified Tennis Pro, oversees the operations of the tennis center. Private, semi-private and group lessons are available.

Biking and Walking : More than 3.5 miles of marked nature trails follow parts of the Cahaba River. Almost two miles of marked, paved walking and bike trails also follow the road throughout the complex.

In Trussville, you will find warm and welcoming neighbors and churches with open doors. So whether you're looking for a place to raise a family or to build a business, you'll find a home and be happy living in Trussville.
