Union Springs is the county seat of Bullock County. Located in southeast Alabama, it is a small rural community located a short drive from several major metropolitan areas.

Annual events include the Chunnenuggee Fair (May), Veterans Day (November) and the Bird Dog Field Trials (November to March). The largest amateur bird dog field trial in the nation is held each February.

The central Alabama climate is excellent for year 'round outdoor recreation. Bullock County has some of the best hunting and fishing in the South. Quail, dove, turkey and deer are harvested. Fishing nearby lakes produces record catches of bass, bream and catfish. We also have an active fox hunting community!

Another small, quaint community in Bullock County is the town of Midway. The town was incorporated in 1870, and it sits amidst beautiful green lawns and trim well-kept homes.

Visitors and retirees can enjoy city pleasures, too. Concerts, museums and theatre, including the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, are available in Montgomery, Alabama, less than an hour's drive away. Victoryland greyhound race track in Shorter, Alabama is another popular area attraction.

Union Springs overflows with history and beauty. We claim some of the finest old homes in Alabama. Many of these homes open to the public as part of our annual Chunnenuggee Fair, held the first Saturday in May.

Bullock County offers many parks and fishing lake for outdoor recreation. Our finest and newest park, the Wehle Nature Center offers 25-acres of hiking trails and opportunities to learn about conservation and the environment.
