Bentonville is in Benton County and operates under a mayor-council form of government. It also has the distinction of being the county seat of Benton County. The city operates its own electric company and sewer treatment plant. We have a productive workforce, a quality educational base, and increasing population of all ages and experience levels, and many businesses that can be of service to you. In addition to one of the most highly recognized public school systems in the State of Arkansas, there are also many opportunities for post-secondary education including Northwest Arkansas Community College and two four-year institutions within a 30-mile radius, the University of Arkansas and John Brown University. Northwest Arkansas Community College has a new central facility - opened in 1995 - and an enrollment of nearly 3,000 students. The college works with industry and other educational institutions to develop partnerships that produces a well-prepared workforce. NWACC offers the first two years of a baccalaureate degree, 15 technical degrees, and a comprehensive adult education/continuing education program. The Bentonville Public School System consists of eight schools which are fully accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. Bentonville is Wal-Mart headquarters and is among the countys largest employers with distribution centers, a printing plant, a photo shop, fixture shop, home offices and stores thriving in the city. Other major employers include Krispy Kitchens (Tyson), Bates Medical Center, Bentonville Casting Company, CEI Engineering Associates, Inc., CTS Corporation, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. Inc. and Rogers Tool Works. Community Publishers, which publishes the Benton County Daily Record, Weekly Vista, Ozark Neighbor, Ozark Living and commercial printing, is based in Bentonville. We are seeing the completion of the expansion of U.S. Highway 71, which will assist the areas major trucking firms, new and existing industries, and tourism. Another major improvement to the area transportation will be the completion of the Regional Airport. This facility will provide enhanced commercial carrier & cargo service for the vibrant and vigorously growing region. Bentonville is serviced by Interstate Highways 40, 44, U.S. Highways 71 and 62. |
