One of the first and largest gay communities in the US, Lake View East or New Town as its sometimes called, hosts the annual Chicago Pride Parade and is home to one of the only gay and lesbian Catholic congregations, the Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach. Lakeview Recreation![]() Because of its locality to Wrigley Field, Lakeview is popular with the baseball crowd, with many Cub-themed bars, pubs and restaurants surrounding the park. Chicago was host to Gay Games VII in 2006 as well as other gay bars, the Pride Parade, clubs and activities. Lakeview also hosts the Lake View Garden Walk. With over eighty garden exhibits, prepared by individual residents, the Garden Walk is a huge attraction for the neighborhood. Family-focused events include the Nettlehorst Elementary Easter Egg Hunt and Halloween costume parade. |
