Lakeview Relocation

About Lakeview

Lake View East, Northalsted, West Lakeview, Wrigleyville

Formerly a Chicago suburb, Lake View has always remained a popular neighborhood. Wrigley Field is located here and the tenants of the surrounding high rises are lucky enough to have a comfortable view from their balcony. Lake View East is a predominantly gay and lesbian community and West Lakeview is popular among the young, hip crowd.

Lakeview Housing

Lowrise flats and mid-rise apartments are common around Lakeview, as well as high-rises and condos; the median price range for a home is about $315,000.

Lakeview Culture

Although Lakeview is a more affluent community, the neighborhood prides itself on its social services, many hospitals and health care institutions are located here. One of the first and largest gay communities in the US, Lake View East or New Town as its sometimes called, hosts the annual Chicago Pride Parade and is home to one of the only gay and lesbian Catholic congregations, the Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach.

Lakeview Recreation

Because of its locality to Wrigley Field, Lakeview is popular with the baseball crowd, with many Cub-themed bars, pubs and restaurants surrounding the park. Chicago was host to Gay Games VII in 2006 as well as other gay bars, the Pride Parade, clubs and activities. Lakeview also hosts the Lake View Garden Walk. With over eighty garden exhibits, prepared by individual residents, the Garden Walk is a huge attraction for the neighborhood. Family-focused events include the Nettlehorst Elementary Easter Egg Hunt and Halloween costume parade.
