Agoura Hills is located in the Conejo Valley. Agoura Hills was named after the French sheep herder Pierre Agoure, the son of a prosperous farmer in Pyrennes, France. The Chumash Indians once roamed these beautiful hills, and open plains set against the magnificent backdrop of the Santa Monica Mountains. Agoura Hills is a relatively quaint community, with a touch of the old rustic atmosphere lingering through.

Agoura Hills was incorporated in 1982, it is approximately 8 square miles in area, and located in the northwestern portion of Los Angeles County, near the Ventura County line. The Ventura Freeway 101 runs through the city, providing easy and convenient access to downtown Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, and Hollywood, through the Westside communities of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Century City. The region is a 22 mile long corridor that runs along the Ventura Freeway covering portions of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

Residents of Agoura Hills enjoy numerous hiking trials, equestrian, jogging trails, bicycle paths, and 5 public parks. Agoura Hills is only minutes away from the Santa Monica Mountains, which consists of several mountainous parks, and Malibu Beaches.
