Aliso Viejo, California
Population: 40,166
Located in Orange County
Aliso Viejo is a 6,600-acre planned community that was recently voted "Best New Home Community in Orange County" by readers of Orange County Register. Over half of the city's space is used for recreational purposes, schools, and community centers. Aliso Viejo was originally part of the 22,000 acre Moulton Ranch. The Moulton family took title in the 1890's to land originally granted to Juan Avila by the Mexican government in 1842. Portions of the ranch were sold and became Leisure World, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel. In 1976, Mission Viejo Company purchased the last 6,600 acres for a new planned community. The first residential homes were offered for sale in March 1982 and the first residents moved in that November. Visitors to this city will be amazed by the Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, of which 2,600 acres are located in the city of Aliso Viejo. There are more than 22 local planned parks within city limits, the largest of which is the 90-acre Aliso Canyon Community Park. Find homes for sale in Aliso Viejo California
