Escalon is within a short drive to the Dos Reis Park, Oakwood Lake and Manteca Waterslides, Knights Ferry, McHenry Recreation area, Woodward Reservoir, Lake McClure, Lake Tullock, Lake Don Pedro, Lake New Melones, Modesto Reservoir, Lake Camanche, Lake New Hogan and the California San Joaquin Delta Waterways. These lakes and rivers provide for camping, hiking, wildlife trails, fishing, sports and other water related activities.
For those sports enthusiasts, Escalon is just a drive to 2 AAA minor league baseball teams, the Stockton Ports and the Modesto A's, and nearby Stockton, the summer home of the San Francisco 49er's football team training camp. Escalon also is home to the Portuguese Bull Fights. This non-blood Portuguese style bull fighting is entertainment for many Escalonians.
If wineries are your pleasure, Escalon has 3 wineries to visit. They are Dodge Vineyards, Canandaigua Wine Company on Hwy 120, Delicato Winery, Frenzia, and Gnekow Family Winery.
Don't forget to visit the Oakdale Cheese and Specialties Factory or the only Hershey Chocolate Factory, west of the Mississippi, and see how these wonderful delights are made from our very own local dairy's milk!

With its cozy tree lined streets and historic charm, Escalon offers the ideal setting for those seeking a rural setting with access to large city conveniences. While enjoying the small community life, major shopping is conveniently located in the nearby cities of Modesto and Stockton. It is also a short commute to the San Francisco Bay Area.
