California Real Estate & Relocation Guide
Felton, California
Population: 1,000
Located in Santa Cruz County
Felton is a small town of approximately 1,000 residents, but that?s all that is small about it! Surrounded by the natural wonders of the Redwoods, Felton is in a beautiful part of Southern California.
There is much to do for both residents and tourists alike ? why not experience America's last steam-powered passenger railroad with year-round passenger train service? This features a narrow-gauge steam engine trip up Bear Mountain or a Pacific Railway journey from Roaring Camp and Big Trees Railroad in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the coastal town of Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. This train ride originates in Felton and provides a wonderful way to while away an afternoon with the family.
Another popular place to spend either a day, or a vacation is Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Here you can go hiking, or trail riding, and you can even bring your dog, as long as they are leashed at all times!
Redwoods is not all there is though! There are local wineries as well ? several right in the Felton area, and others only a short drive away. If wine tasting is something you enjoy, then Felton is definitely the first place you should place on your agenda.
The house prices here are pretty typical for the California coastal regions ? a 2,000 square foot home will generally sell for around $650,000.00. Felton does offer the gamut in housing options though, so there is often something to suit everyone.
Felton is close enough to Santa Cruz that many residents choose to commute there, or to San Jose, the beauty here is that at the end of the day, you are traveling back to a veritable slice of heaven, and not bound to stay in the metropolis; and yet you?re close enough to enjoy a convert, a game or a night on the town!
