Ninety percent of the City's 4 square miles is contained within the senior citizen gated community of Leisure World. The 10% that's left is made up of three additional senior residential communities and several thriving commercial centers. Development of Leisure World began in the 1960s on 2,095 acres formerly known as the Moulton Ranch. It was designed to offer a full range of cultural and recreational experiences for active adults within a safe and gardenlike setting. Most of the homes are situated right in Leisure World and range in price from $120,000 or a 700 square foot, two bedroom, two bath condo, all the way to $795,000 for a three bedroom, two bath, 1,700 square foot condo. So, regardless of wallet size, you'll find a home here. But don't expect to spend much time in the house - all the activities happen at the clubhouses, the golf courses, the stables, the tennis courts. The Equestrian Center provides horses, guided trail rides and instruction. Special events, including horsemanship camps, horse shows, and cookouts, take place throughout the year. Twilight trail rides are also available during the summer months for those brave enough. If you'd prefer to use something with a little more horse power, grab a golf cart and take a gander at the facilities which include a 27 hole golf course and a nine hole par three golf course. In addition there is a pro shop, snack bar, driving range and five practice putting greens. Travel is the name of the game for many of the residents, and what better way to get around than an RV?
