Located in Riverside County Lake Elsinore is 34 square miles with a 3000 acre lake as its biggest landmark. Lake Elsinore has so many different available styles of living. If you want rural, urban, county, lakeside, rolling hills, mountains, horse ranches, farming, you name it, you'll find it here. Lake Elsinore is one of the fastest growing communities in the Inland Valley and California. The growth in Temecula-Murrieta Valley to the South and Lake Elsinore-Riverside to the North is overflowing into Lake Elsinore. Tax revenues, retail sales and the number of building permits are all up. Everything is up except the crime rate; it has gone down. The largest natural lake in Southern California is one of the biggest assets of the city and provides recreation in the form of swimming, boating, fishing and water skiing. Lake Elsinore is also famous for its skydiving, parasailing, sky jumping and other small aircraft flying. The wind currents coming over the mountains and off the lake make this activity ideal. Old Town Lake Elsinore still has the small Western town feel with shops and restaurants and draws people to its homey atmosphere. Street fairs are famous and people from miles around come to enjoy it. The Lake Elsinore Unified School District covers a 140 square mile area with a population of approximately 70,000 in one of the fastest growing communities in Riverside County. The district is composed of 22 schools: Thirteen elementary, four middle, two comprehensive high schools, a continuation school, an alternate education center and an adult education program. The district also provides Head Start programs at three school sites. School enrollment is K-12 in 18,933. Lake Elsinore Unified is the largest employer in Lake Elsinore Valley. Lake Elsinore Unified has four Distinguished Schools. Terra Cotta Middle School was one of two middle schools in the state to be designated as an "Excellence in Art" school. LEUSD is one of 11 recipients in the United States of the Arts Educational Middle Program Development and Dissemination Grant. The two High Schools have a maximum six year accreditations from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Magnet programs are available in two of our schools.
