Commute: Martinez is located along Highway 4 near Highway 680. San Francisco takes over one hour to drive. Oakland and Pleasanton are 35-40 minutes. The Bart Station is just 5 minutes away; time to San Francisco is 55 minutes. The downtown Amtrak Station makes the Oakland Airport close by.
Schools: Martinez has its own school district and has received numerous awards for outstanding schools including Alhambra High. The southern portion of the City is in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District with College Park High.
School: The Community College—Diablo Valley is just ten minutes away. Several private schools and preschools are available.
Recreation: Martinez has a small marina and park along its downtown waterfront on the Carquinez Straits (the north San Francisco Bay connecting to the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers.) Recreational houseboats and party boats are available for sport fishing. Several excellent parks, an Olympic size pool, trails and golf are nearby.

Shopping: Several neighborhood centers make shopping convenient. Two regional centers are nearby. The Farmers’ Market is downtown and is on Thursdays during the summer.
