This area was originally part of the Rancho Cucamonga Valley with the Mira Loma area becoming a portion of the Jurupa Valley more recently. Once known as Wineville, the name was changed to Mira Loma, which means "view of the hills" in the late 1920's. In the early 1930's, the dairymen and wineries began to develop here.
