Moreno Valley is a dynamic community half-way between Los Angeles and Palm Springs. Nestled between local mountains and Lake Perris, Moreno Valley is uniquely located one hour from the mountains, the desert, and the ocean.
Moreno Valley is now Riverside County's second most populous city, with 139,000 residents. About 80% of Moreno Valley's housing was built between 1980 and 2000.
March Air Reserve Base, still active, sits on its Southwest border. The Moreno Valley Mall at Towngate on the West side includes Penney's, Sears and Robinson-May. Nearby are large discount stores such as Costco, Walmart, Target, Home Depot.
On the Southeast border are two hospitals, Riverside County Regional Medical Center and Moreno Valley Community Hospital. Also on the Southeast side is the Moreno Valley Ranch 27 hole Pete Dye golf course, rated in the top 100 courses in the United States.
The University of California at Riverside is just over the Northwest border, and the Riverside Community College has a campus by Lake Perris.
Large regional parks and reserves, including Lake Perris State Recreational Area (boating, hiking and equestrian trails), surround the city. Within the city limits are numerous parks dedicated to the large contingent of soccer and baseball players along with playgrounds for the little ones.
