Population: 25,158 Located in Contra Costa County

San Pablo is a bedroom community located in West Contra Costa. San Pablo embraced redevelopment, a tax approach that among other things spruces up streets and neighborhoods to make them more presentable to businesses and developers. San Pablo, because it is close to urban centers, is a much better commute than many towns in the East Bay.

San Pablo is also home to Brookside Hospital and the most influential cultural institution in the West County, Contra Costa College. There are many activities at the college, including an innovative program that educates high school kids. This community is served by the West Contra Costa Unified School District.

A picturesque city hall and historic buildings recall old days of San Pablo. El Portal Shopping Plaza, the hospital and the college are all close to the freeway.

Home prices in San Pablo vary often by age of units. New homes get up in price, but not as high as other Contra Costa towns. San Pablo is a great place to get into home ownership, even if you are lacking in money!
