Scripps Ranch is an upscale community for professional families, located in San Diego County. Known for its near-idyllic climate, and proximity to a dazzling array of world-class family attractions, including the world-famous San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, SeaWorld San Diego and LEGOLAND California, Scripps Ranch offers a wide variety of things to see and do. Lake Miramar has fishing, picnicking, and boating facilities and is surrounded by a five-mile running, skating, and biking path. Most homes were built and occupied in 1970-1980's with new construction continuing mainly in the new master planned community called Scripps Ranch Villages along Scripps-Poway Parkway. Although there are spectacular beautiful custom homes, the majority of homes in Scripps Ranch are comprised of middle-class and upper-middle-class modern homes. Families are attracted to this community because of its beauty, and its wonderful homes. As homes here are larger, the price tag is steeper. Most homes start at $450,000, with the average selling price being in the $800,000's. For family friendly living, you cannot beat the neighborhoods, though. Scripps Ranch kids attend San Diego Unified School District schools. Scripps Ranch High School opened its doors in September 1993. New elementary and middle schools were opened in recent years. A few of the schools are open year-round. Scripps Ranch offers many activities available and well-supported; soccer being one of the most popular sports. Many clubs and activities for adults including: garden club, quilting club, computer club, small theater group, writer's group, and music club to name a few. Scripps Ranch is well situated and the climate cannot be improved upon!
