Shingle Springs, California

Population: 2,100
Located in El Dorado County

Shingle Springs is a bustling town of 2,100 residents. Originally an early California gold mining settlement, Shingle Springs has evolved into a peaceful country community with ranches and homes on acreage. Adjacent to Cameron Park in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Shingle Springs is halfway between the San Francisco Bay Area and the scenic Lake Tahoe Basin.

Unlimited recreational activities are less than two hours away by car. Residents enjoy the peaceful nature of the town that offers small-town charm, yet has access to all the amenities of a larger city. Real Estate: Cameron Park is a Shingle Springs community originally envisioned in the 1950s by a successful auto dealership owner and former championship rodeo rider, Larry Cameron. Cameron purchased 5,000 acres of land and envisioned a community in which residents could swim in a lake, play golf, and use a private airport.

Today, Cameron's dream has been realized. Airpark properties line the wide, dual-purpose streets on which pilots taxi their private planes to the oversized garages in their homes that serve as hangars. Meantime, golfers prefer the smaller "cart-sized" garages in some of the properties along the Cameron Park Country Club. Residents can enjoy swimming, picnics, and some of the finest Fourth of July fireworks in El Dorado County at Cameron Park Lake.

Recreation
There are several premier wineries nearby. Apple Hill Ranches, Historic Coloma, the American River and the El Dorado National Forest are all located within minutes of the city. The community offers a wide variety of housing types and prices. Prices for single-family homes begin in the mid $400,000s and run to $1 million and more for large estate properties with magnificent views. The average house price is $680,000. Today the city is once again experiencing prosperity as residents seek a simpler way of life. Today Shingle Springs features a mix of upscale-gated communities, smaller homes on land, and picturesque horse properties on rolling hills.
