Tulare County and Visalia, our County seat, were both founded in 1852, and have vibrant historical pasts. In the 1850?s, as the largest town in California between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Visalia was an important hub for cultural and business activity in Central California.

From it?s location, at the junction of Highways 99 & 198, at the western side of the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, it is 185 miles south to Los Angeles and 225 miles north to San Francisco. Visalia is located between two major air terminals, Fresno and Bakersfield, with affordable shuttle service between the two airports and Visalia.

Visalia is the perfect blend of prosperous businesses, outstanding shopping centers, friendly neighborhoods, and a breathtaking landscape. Rugged mountain vistas are the backdrop for this beautiful community with a small town feel.

Visalia?s seasonal weather allows for year-round recreation and entertainment. During the summer months the climate is warm and dry, ranging from 68 degrees to 98 degrees. Winters are mild with low humidity and average temperatures ranging from 37 degrees to 55 degrees. Average annual rainfall is 9.86 inches.
