Alamosa County is located in South Central Colorado at an elevation of 7,544 feet. The County's high plains and flat valley expands 722 square miles, surrounded by the Sangre de Cristo mountain range to the east and the San Juan mountain range to the west. The famous Rio Grande River originates in the San Juan Mountains and flows through the San Luis Valley.

EDUCATION
Alamosa School District is the pride of the community. Not only are the faculty and programs reflective of the progressive attitudes of the administration and school board, but the accelerated achievements of the students paint the picture. Education is priority-one in Alamosa and the entire school district shows it.

Adams State College, founded in 1921, is home to 2,500 on-campus undergraduates and 7,000 extended students. Associates, bachelors and masters degrees are offered in 50 areas of study. Hispanic, Native American and cowboy art can be viewed at the college's Luther E. Bean Museum.

HEALTH SERVICES The San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center is the Valley's largest medical facility. The hospital houses rooms for inpatient needs, emergency and laboratory services. The Alamosa medical community is strong and diverse, drawing talented professionals from throughout the nation.
