It's a place where the great plains meet the Rocky Mountains; with some of the most magnificent scenery in the country, from rolling grasslands and craggy rock formations, to natural foothills, rugged mountains and tumbling mountain streams.

The community was named for the Ken Caryl Ranch, which was named for the two sons of ranch owner John C. Shaffer. Ken Caryl was developed as a planned community in the 1970s by the Johns Manville Corporation.
