Lyons, Colorado
Population: 1,585 Located in Boulder County
Lyons is small enough to get to know everybody in the town, yet large enough to have its own schools. Lyons is located at the mouth of the North and South St. Vrain River Canyons, located 20 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. In the early days, Lyons was the center of activity as passengers rode the train to Lyons and then boarded either stagecoaches or Stanley Steamers for the mountainous part of their travels to Estes Park, Allenspark, and to the Rockies. Today Lyons is still the main route to the beautiful mountains just a few miles away. Designated as a historic district, Lyons has fifteen sandstone structures that are unique to the State and Nation and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. All constructed of native stone by master craftsmen between the early 1870's and 1917, these structures include commercial, residential, and public buildings. We love the small town of Lyons, Colorado, with its friendly atmosphere. Stop By!
