Pueblo, Colorado

As Colorado's ninth largest city, Pueblo offers its residents clean air, majestic mountains, friendly townspeople, affordable living and the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo (HARP). Located just 35 miles from Colorado Springs, many new residents have relocated to Pueblo because of its lower housing costs while still maintaining the same high standards.

While Pueblo is known as the heart of the encompassing economic area of southeastern Colorado and northern New Mexico, the locale of highways Route 50 and Interstate 25, make work just a short ride away. Once known as the "Steel City," Pueblo is host to a number of electronics and aviation companies. Lying just east of the city is Pueblo Memorial Airport and Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum.

Beginning in 1996, Downtown Pueblo started renovations on its Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo to boost its downtown economy. This 26-acre waterfront includes a walkway and artwork along the Arkansas River, an outdoor amphitheater and nature center. Currently in  the latter stages of Phase Three, a Veteran’s Bridge, honoring Pueblo's veterans, will cross the Riverwalk channel and the construction of a Riverwalk boathouse should be completed in 2008.

Taking pride in the continually development of The Riverwalk, special events and activities are hosted year-round, including, Rolling on the Riverwalk (July), the Annual Holiday Lighting Extravaganza (November), performances by the Pueblo Symphony and come December, Christmas carolers, horse-drawn carriage rides, fireworks and Santa boat rides are all on display.

Here you'll find Colorado State University-Pueblo, with about 6,000 students. In the fall of 2008, CSU-Pueblo will bring back its football team, with home games at Pueblo's  Dutch Clark Stadium.

Located at the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek, residents enjoy the lush scenery offering kayaking, golfing, and number of outdoor adventures and amusements. While near-by, Lake Pueblo State Park provides 9‚500 acres of hiking, biking and horseback riding. Boaters, swimmers and fishermen enjoy Lake Pueblo's crystal blue waters and Rock Canyon beach‚ with a 3-story waterslide.
