Today the city's neighborhoods, fairs, festivals and historical societies preserve the traditions and flavors of New Haven's broad cultural heritage.

Greater New Haven is known as "Elm City" because of all the beautiful, and old, elm trees. There are areas where the elms have been left to grow, tended by concerned people.
