The small town of Easton has a population of 6,370, and covers 28.8 sq. miles. It is located near the southwest corner of Connecticut. Families moving from Fairfield first settled it in 1757. Today, while close to the New York metropolitan area, Easton remains a quiet and even rural residential town. Half of the town's property is owned by the Bridgeport Hydraulic Company Adjacent to Fairfield, Easton is one of the most rural towns in Fairfield County. With one and three acre zoning areas, it remains a densely wooded residential and farming town with charming rural character. It is a small, intimate town, with two schools, and it is not uncommon for the children to be taught by the same teachers who taught their parents! This area is steeped in history and people can go and visit the one room schoolhouse that was used for many years. Easton however is more than just a rural area - there are recreational activities available here too! There are many quiet, country roads for some horse-back riding, or taking the bicycles out for a peaceful spin, there are the woods to explore and the rivers to check out. Easton is a place where you feel safe and secure. However, if you want the faster pace of life, then New York City is not that far away, with all the excitement the "Big Apple" can pack! So, it is easy to slip away for an action-packed weekend in New York City and return to the solitude and peace of Easton on a Sunday night. Bridgeport and New Haven are also fairly close, with all the history, traditions and culture available there as well.
