Coconut Creek, Butterfly Capital of the World, is located in South Florida about 20 minutes northwest of Fort Lauderdale.

Incorporated in 1967, this beautiful city is widely recognized as a well planned, rapidly growing community that is considered one of the leading cities in Broward County and South Florida. Environmentally- oriented, the City pursues a friendly, progressive approach to creating a livable suburban lifestyle for its residents and businesses.

The city is 11.3 square miles with 45,517 residents. Housing is primarily single family homes, condominiums and townhouses within professionally landscaped communities.

The City offers recreational and cultural programs at its 18 City-owned parks including gymnasiums, tennis, basketball, and raquetball courts, soccer and baseball fields, sports facilities, and recreation centers.

There are excellent schools in Coconut Creek. Our public schools are administered by the Broward County Public School District, which is the largest fully-accredited school district in the United States and is the fifth largest school district in the nation.

Students are required to attend school for 180 days per school year. All Coconut Creek schools are on a calendar that runs approximately from the end of August until the following June. In general, elementary schools are open from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; middle schools are open from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; and high schools are open from 7:40a.m.- 2:40 p.m.

These events include sporting events, festivals, town hall meetings, or programs designed to encourage public participation.
