The City of Cooper City is a municipal corporation created by Special Act of the Florida Legislature on June 20, 1959. Located approximately fifteen miles southwest of Fort Lauderdale, this 7.5 square mile bedroom community has the fourth highest median household income in Broward County. With a population of 28,158, the average age of all residents is 32.5 years. With three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, as well as several private and religious-affiliated schools, as well as an abundance of parks and recreational facilities and programs for all ages.
