State Road 85 and Interstate Hwy 10 cross on the south side of town, while State Road 85 and Hwy 90 cross on the north side of Crestview. Located roughly half way between Pensacola and Panama City, Crestview borders Eglin Air Force Base on the north and is situated only 25 miles north of Fort Walton Beach, Destin and the Gulf of Mexico. Crestview is located in Okaloosa County, which has the second lowest ad-valorem millage rate in Florida. Florida pays no personal income tax and the state sales tax is 7%. Crestview's education SAT and ACT scores are well above state and national averages. We have five elementary schools and two middle schools. One private school (grades K-12) and a branch of Okaloosa Community College is located in town. We have a public library. North Okaloosa Medical Center is located here in Crestview with 24 hr emergency care and 110 beds. Our Okaloosa Regional Airport is located 18 miles to the south. Eglin Air Force Base is the county's largest single employer. Both military and civilian job opportunities abound in this area. In addition, the military uses Duke Field (only 7 miles south of Crestview) for special operations with C-130 airplanes. The Ranger Training Battalion School is just South of Crestview. The Naval School of Explosive Ordinance Disposal is near Niceville, (only 20 minutes away) and Hurlburt Field Operations is 40 minutes away from Crestview. Crestview has an industrial park (116 acres) as do the nearby communities of Holt and Laurel Hill. The Crestview location gives you access to many bases, shopping, beaches, golf courses, fishing, camping or canoeing. With our balmy weather and temperatures ranging from an average in the summer of 80 degrees to an average of 51 degrees in winter, you'll have plenty of days to work and play in the sun!
