DeBary incorporated and became a city on January 1, 1994. The city hall is located on 17-92 and the city government contracts with Volusia County for most of its services (i.e. police and fire). DeBary was named for Samuel Frederick DeBary, a New York wine importer, who was a frequent visitor to the area. In 1870 Count DeBary built a southern mansion now known as DeBary Hall. The mansion is currently under renovation and soon will be open to the public as a place for art to be displayed and its beautiful ground to be enjoyed. If you love nature, you will love DeBary. We have several parks, including a 210-acre community park with twin bubbling springs that is under development for camping, swimming and boating. DeBary is bordered in the west by 13 miles of the St. Johns River, a natural, beautiful waterway. Enjoy a boat ride and discover Florida's wildlife.
