Havana, Florida
Population: 1,713
Located in Gadsden County
Located on the eastern side of Gadsden County and just minutes north of Tallahassee, Havana is well known for its many antique shops and art galleries. Over 30 shops and galleries blend into Downtown Havana, pumping new life into its many old tobacco warehouses. U.S. 27 runs from Tallahassee to the Georgia line, bisecting Havana with its four-lanes. The area around Havana, with its many rural subdivisions and developments, provides a wide variety of housing choices. Country Club living, lots and homes on lakes and acreage tracts are all available in abundance. Major employers in the Havana area include wood products mill, ornamental nurseries and a custom computer circuit board manufacturer. There's a good reason the merchants here call this historic little town a few miles north of Tallahassee "North Florida's Arts and Antiques Capital." With more than 30 shops offering antiques, art, custom-made and antique furniture, books, jewelry, collectibles, clothing, gifts and even pets, Havana is a haven for shoppers and art lovers who are tired of malls and big chain stores. In between the shops, you'll find quaint eateries and coffee shops, where fares range from quiche and hoagies to fine Italian dining and barbecue. Twenty years ago, this place was practically a ghost town. That's when Keith Henderson strolled into town.
