The population of the city of High Springs is approximately 3800. When including the surrounding areas, population rises to about 8500. The city is governed by a major and four Commissioners. Our City Hall houses all city related services: water, garbage collection, code enforcement and a County Tag office. The tax rate is 29.7442 per $1,000 of assessed value; however the assessed value may be reduced by filing for a $25,000 Homestead Exemption yearly.

We have our own Police and Fire Departments. The City Library is part of the Alachua County Library System. Our Recreation Department offers many organized activities for both youth and adults. The Civic Center is the hub for community activities.
