GREETINGS FROM SUNNY ISLES OF CAPRI, FLORIDA! Isles of Capri is an unique waterfront community on four small islands nestled between Naples and Marco Island in Southwest Florida. Surrounded by protected wildlife sanctuaries and clear Gulf waters, the Isles of Capri is a sportsmen's and nature lovers' paradise. It is one of the few communities remaining in Southwest Florida that has retained the quiet, unhurried atmosphere of a small waterside village. Avid boaters will be interested to know that all waterfront properties on Capri have direct access (no bridges to contend with) and the access time is very short; ranging from one to ten minutes to reach the Gulf and one to five minutes to the backwaters. Boating enthusiasts have a choice of offshore and backwater fishing, sailing, scuba diving, shelling, beach combing, waters sports and boating to their favorite restaurant or "chickee". The quaint community of Isles of Capri is very accommodating to all of these, and they start from the property owner's backyard. Developer Leland L. Loach created the hideaway in the mid-1950s after he purchased the four mangrove islands. The Dunlop, Tennessee-born Loach had dreams of creating a hideaway fishing retreat. Loach dredged canals and built a road that connected the island to the mainland. Today, the Isles of Capri have retained their natural beauty, and residents live along quiet streets in modest homes. This area, with its lush tropical foliage, white sand beaches and turquoise Gulf waters provides endless opportunities for outdoor recreational fun. Spend hours in the sun relaxing and sunbathing, or go fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing, play golf or tennis. The Briggs Nature Center on Marco Island has live animal exhibits, a touch table, and trails through mangrove, hammock and marsh forests. You can charter a boat for a day of deep-sea fishing, take a swamp buggy tour, dolphin watching tour or sightseeing tour of the islands. The Isles of Capri is just a short drive to Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades City, home to the Everglades City Museum and the Everglades National Park Gulf Coast Visitor Center.
