One of the nice things about living here is that although you have all the convenience of a large community, with lots of nice shops, technology-related businesses and such, you still have a small community flavor, where folks lounge about on the front porch for an evening and give you a wave as you pass by. A place where you'll still find farmers that wake with the roosters to go out and plow the fields, and a place where a man's word is still his greatest asset. 

Columbia County and North Florida are filled with numerous lakes and rivers, in fact, there are so many lakes - public and private - that the town's name was changed from "Alligator" to "Lake City" in 1859.

The famous Suwannee, the historic Santa Fe, and the cool Ichtucknee rivers all flow in and around our area, offering natural beauty and an abundance of wildlife and a fabulous playground for water activities from tubing to skiing. Within easy driving distance, you'll find the historic Stephen Foster State Park, the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, O'Lena State Park and Olustee Beach - just to name a few.
