Lutz, Florida
Population: 17,081 Located in Hillsborough County
Lutz: (pronounced Loots) is often thought of as a "bedroom community" because many residents commute to Tampa during working hours and return in the evening. However, Lutz is also a place with its own identity. Lutz is located about 15 miles north of Tampa, Florida. It's a little hard to pinpoint the exact boundaries, but it's a safe to say that the heart of Lutz is just north of the intersection of Sunset Lane and US 41. Here is where the Old Lutz School House sits (an historic site). The library, community center and firehouse are grouped together near the war memorials. The recently erected train depot (a replica of the original) is a reminder of the community's origins and the spirit remaining with the residents of today. With good schools, affordable housing and a strong sense of community, Lutz is considered a good place to live and raise a family. Lutz is nestled among more than 100 spectacular lakes providing a perfect blend of leisurely country living with all the convenience and amenities found in a metropolitan area. We are minutes from several golf courses with club facilities. Regional attractions include Busch Gardens, the Florida Aquarium and Lowry Park Zoo. Professional sports teams include the Tampa Bay Buccanceers football team; Tampa Bay Lightning, hockey team; Tampa Mutiny, soccer club; and our newest addition, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays baseball team. We also enjoy being the home of many major league baseball teams' spring training facilities. Close to whatever your heart desires, beautiful sandy beaches, Disney World, Sea World, and many other popular tourist attractions.
