Weeki Wachee is one of the smallest cities in the State of Florida and the second incorporated city in Hernando County. Weeki Wachee is home to the famous Mermaids and unique Water Park at the Weeki Wachee Spring's origin. It is also home of the Weeki Wachee Preserve, which is a 6,000 acre tract that includes several miles of the Weeki Wachee River and portions of the Mud River and it's adjoining lowlands and estuarine marshes. The preserve protects wetland habitats against future development while developing recreational opportunities for the public. Seven deep-water rock quarry lakes are available in the preserve for freshwater and saltwater fishing using hand-launched boats or electric trolling motors.
