Alpharetta's Recreation and Parks Department offers year-round programs to meet the recreational needs of its citizens from toddlers to senior citizens. The City has many outdoor fine facilities, including Wills Park, which features an equestrian center, a community-built playground, Community Center and a swimming pool. Adding to the City's facilities, the Union Hill Roller Hockey Park was completed in April 1997.

The City continues to improve roadways and intersections in heavily traveled areas and will soon begin construction on a major new roadway, Westside Parkway, which will run parallel to GA 400 on the west side.

The City welcomes citizen participation in community development through its various boards and a host of volunteer-based community events.
