Established in 1853 on the last land in Georgia ceded from the Creek Indians, the city of Bowdon has long been recognized for its warm hospitality and friendliness to newcomers and visitors. Bowdon is located in Carroll County in West Central Georgia amid the rolling hills of the Piedmont Region of the state. The city is approximately 4 miles east of the Georgia/Alabama state line; 60 miles west of Atlanta; 100 miles south of Chattanooga; and 85 miles north of Columbus. Interstate highway I-20 runs to the east and west 10 miles north of town.
