Downtown Lawrenceville is overflowing with history. Historically significant buildings in downtown Lawrenceville include the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse and Lawrenceville Female Seminary. Also downtown are various landmarks and antique locations. While downtown, visitors can relax in one of several parks, among them Bethesda Park and Senior Center, Collins Hill Park (and Aquatic Center), Rhodes Jordan Park, and Ronald Reagan Park. Lawrenceville's revitalization plan was strengthened when in 2005, the city of Lawrenceville crafted a unique partnership with Aurora Theatre, who has relocated to the county seat in time for the opening of its 11th season.
Transportation
Lawrenceville can be accessed through several highways. Georgia 316 passes through Lawrenceville to Athens and connects to Interstate 85 at Exit 106. Interstate 85 South travels through downtown Atlanta, which is roughly 35 to 40 miles away Southwest. Lawrenceville can also be accessed by US 78 (Stone Mountain Freeway) and then Scenic Highway (Georgia 124) via Snellville, GA. Thirdly, Lawrenceville can be accessed through the Ronald Reagan Parkway. Last but not least, Lawrenceville can be considered a suburb of Metropolitan Atlanta and can be accessed in numerous other ways. The following Georgia highways pass through Lawrenceville: GA 8, GA 20, GA 29, GA 120, GA 124, and GA 316.
Lawrenceville also has the Gwinnett County Briscoe Field Airport, which is not an international airport.
Public schools
Lawrenceville city itself has one high school and various middle and elementary schools, all part of Gwinnett County Public Schools. Within the city limits is the Central Gwinnett High School. Around Lawrenceville (still considered Lawrenceville) are 15 elementary schools and 5 middle schools. All of these are part of various clusters grouped by the Gwinnett County Public Schools and are not specifically conforming to any one certain city (for example, the Brookwood Cluster, which includes Brookwood High School, receives pupils from both Lawrenceville and Snellville, as well as from parts of Lilburn.)
Private schools
There are several private schools in Lawrenceville, but most of the private schools in the area are in various places throughout Gwinnett County.
Colleges and Universities
Within Lawrenceville are two public colleges: the Gwinnett Technical College, and the Lawrenceville Branch of Georgia Perimeter College. The Lawrenceville Branch will be closed in 2007 when it will be renamed Georgia Gwinnett College. There are also two private, two-year colleges.
Libraries
Lawrenceville libraries are part of the Gwinnett Public Libraries and two of them are located in Lawrenceville. These include the Lawrenceville Branch and the Five Forks Branch.
Hospitals
Lawrenceville has one major hospital, the Gwinnett Medical Center, which serves much of Central Gwinnett.
