Despite the current economic downturn, Suwanee remains a vibrant, healthy community. Recently, economic development has been concentrated in two areas of the City: new construction in our award-winning, built-from-scratch Town Center and proactive revitalization in the Suwanee Gateway area. Suwanee is home to several progressive, high-tech national firms, including Hewlett-Packard, Dish Network, Echo Star, and Mitsubishi Electric. The future looks bright for the City and the Suwanee Gateway, where the framework and first two phases of a 148-acre, multi-use development have been completed.

Those who relocate from other parts of the country are often pleasantly surprised by how far their housing dollar can stretch in Suwanee. The community offers a variety of housing options to fit an array of lifestyles. Many newer neighborhoods in Suwanee are part of planned mixed-use developments, featuring traditional neighborhood designs and multi-family as well as single-family units. Most of the neighborhoods created throughout the 1990s are conventional subdivisions with moderate to luxury homes, amenities, and friendly neighborhoods. Suwanee is also fortunate to have many historic structures, including several grand Victorian and regional farm-style homes.

Suwanee residents are served by the Gwinnett County Public Schools System, which, like Suwanee, has managed its extrordinary growth effectively. Regarded as one of the finest programs in the Southeast, Gwinnett County schools is committed to being a world-class educational system. A new high school will open in fall 2010.

Through its award-winning open space initiative, Suwanee has taken "play" to a whole new level. In 2002, Suwanee had 28 acres of City-owned parkland. Today, thanks to our bond-funded open space initiative, Suwanee has about 300 acres of open space, including four new parks. In addition to the parks, Suwanee constructed a four-mile multipurpose trail. The Suwanee Creek Greenway is enormously popular with walkers, joggers, and bikers who want to see Suwanee's "wild" side. Recently Suwanee opened its new art deco-styled City Hall at Town Center, designed and constructed to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards.

Settle in Suwanee and enjoy the best in small-town living combined with the convenience of big-city access and well-managed growth. While Suwanee's housing, population, and businesses have grown exponentially over the past 20 years, City officials have worked diligently to protect and enhance the natural environment and historic areas, ensure that commercial development reflects our "small-town-America" vision, and preserve the friendly atmosphere that makes Suwanee a great place to live and do business.
