Temple, Georgia

Population: 2,383
Located in Carroll County

Temple , Georgia

Temple is a small, West Georgia city transversed by the Southern Railroad and the Bankhead Highway (Hwy. 78).

The city is forty-five miles west of Atlanta, the capital of the state. It is located in the northwestern part of Carroll County and is twelve miles north of Carrollton, the county seat. Interstate Hwy 20 runs through the southern part of the city.

Since Temple was settled seventeen years after the close of the Civil War, it has sent its sons to World War I, World War II, and to the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. The town's development can be traced through the cotton farming era, the Great Depression, and the present time when most everyone earns his livelihood through employment in area businesses and industries.

Today there is a trend to return to the land. Many young people are buying small plots of land in the country and are commuting to their jobs rather than living in the cities.

A new day for this place is now dawning, and the second 100 years is just beyond the horizon.
