Founded in 1884, Addison has grown into a prominent community of 33,000 residents.
Newcomers seeking to become active in the community have a variety of service organizations from which to choose, since Addison has more than a dozen advisory commissions. Some of the active omissions include the Cultural Arts Development Commission, Historical Commission, Environmental Impact Commission and Citizens Advisory Council. Home to the fourth largest industrial park in Illinois, Addison is an extremely pro-business community which is home to a variety of large, medium and small businesses. During the past year, several prominent entertainment-oriented companies have set up shop in Addison, including Dave & Buster's and Marcus Cinema. Addison is also home to excellent elementary schools (Dist. 4) and a top-flight high school (Dist. 88). For those interested in continuing education, the College of DuPage (C.O.D.) offers four associate degrees and has occupational and certificate programs.
