Hillside is a small, friendly, family-oriented community located alongside the Illinois Prairie Path in the suburbs west of Chicago. It is at the hub of three major expressways, I-290, I-294, and I-88, which provide area residents quick and easy access to downtown Chicago as well as the suburban areas of greater Chicagoland.
Hillside is a mixture of a residential community and more than 200 industries and businesses. The Village has recently undergone a major beautification program, planting new trees along main thoroughfares and side streets as well.
Hillside is a gourmet-dining destination with a wide variety of cuisine and settings. The Hillside Holiday Inn and Convention Center offers a wide variety of meeting and function rooms (accommodating up to 850 people).
Recreation:
There are two premier golf courses in Hillside: Fresh Meadows Golf Course and American Golf Corp, there are several others within a short drive of Hillside.
Hillside is located alongside The Illinois Prairie Path, a multi-use nature trail for non-motorized public use. It spans approximately 61 miles in Cook, DuPage and Kane Counties in northeastern Illinois. A former right-of-way for the old Chicago Aurora & Elgin electric railroad, it was the first U.S. rail-to-trail conversion in the nation in the 1960's.
The 61 miles of the Illinois Prairie Path is many things to different folks. To some it may just be a convenient route to work, instead of the hassle of autos and stoplights. To others it may be a favorite place to exercise Rover or Fido. It could be the perfect mileage for a high school cross-country running team to work out their strategy for next weekend's meet.
Perhaps it's the only spot one has ever spotted that strange little finch with the purple throat and silvery-yellow wings that bring them back every afternoon. A place to run with the little one in the jogging cart. Everyone seems to be doing his or her own thing - and loving it.
Education:
Hillside is home to 2 elementary schools, one middle and one high school with several private institutions and several tertiary level schools and colleges. As part of the Cook County school district, Hillside enjoys a high standard of education with high State level scores that make them recognized throughout the state as a premier place in which to live and educate children.
Hillside is a wonderful family community, which is thriving because of all the businesses that have chosen to settle there. Hillside is family-oriented with many activities to keep people of all ages and all interests happy. Hillside is definitely a village worth checking out!
