Illinois Real Estate & Relocation Guide

Inverness, Illinois

Population: 6,749

Located in Cook County

Amongst Chicagoans, the name Inverness is synonymous with wealth, exclusive homes and expansive lots, a woody enclave suitable for the modern-day Country Squire.

Young families are moving to Inverness. In fact, the park district is developing a third green with soccer fields and tennis courts. Also, in keeping with the woodsy feel of the village, an urban park was recently completed in the center of town.

Inverness children attend schools in nearby Barrington or Palatine. With the exception of a small Williamsburg-style office complex, Inverness doesn't have a commercial district, and residents travel to neighboring towns for sundries, groceries and other errands.

This prestigious community of Inverness was named after a county in Scotland. First developed in 1938 by Arthur T. McIntosh, Inverness was designed as a rural getaway, patterned after the Colonial homes of Williamsburg, Virginia.

Today, the winding roads and scenic landscaping still provides residents with the ambience of country living close to amenities of urban life.
