"The Village with a View to the Future"

The motto of Aurora's northern neighbor, "The Village with a View to the Future," is perhaps most appropriate. The town is looking ahead, expanding its boundaries and inviting new residents, as housing developments and new businesses, at a steady flow, become fixtures of the community.

North Aurora is very proud of the businesses and industries that make North Aurora their home. Our community offers a variety of professional offices, a supermarket, bicycle sales and repair shops, a photo shop, a furniture store, restaurants, bakeries and interior furnishing stores. North Aurora is home to distinguished industries such as Aurora Pump, Dart Manufacturing, Aurora Packing, Oberweis Dairy, DACO and Ruddy Brothers Construction.

To further the expansion of business and industry in North Aurora, the Village is in the planning stages of creating a Tax Increment Financing district for the Lincoln Highway/Route 31 Corridor. Builders recently increased the industrial base by approximately 225,000 square feet. The Village zoned over 600 acres for future industrial and/or commercial development.

In recent years, homebuilders found a vibrant market in North Aurora. Purchasers report the community's attractiveness, community spirit, and convenience as their motivation to select North Aurora. The Village has been averaging 300 new houses a year. The Village plans with great care and tight controls to accept more residential growth, with a final build-out population projected to be approximately 17,000 residents.

In North Aurora, convenient shopping is available with a good selection of local retail stores and convenience centers throughout town. Major shopping areas exist in the City of Aurora or north of the Village along Randall Road. With relatively short drives, shoppers can reach most brand name retailers. North Aurora hosts a seven-dealer auto mall located near I-88's Orchard Road interchange.

North Aurora extends a number of active and passive recreational opportunities. The banks of the Fox River offer scenic views, bike paths, parklands, and fishing. The bike paths connect to regional paths, so an enthusiast can cycle to DuPage or Lake Counties.

The Fox Valley Park District, in addition to maintaining an extensive park system, offers a great variety of programs. From children to seniors, and from mildly skilled to intense competitors, persons will find the sought after level of activity. The Park District also sponsors a series of summer concerts in the new gazebo and coordinates the July 4th fireworks as part of a community festival known as North Aurora Days.

Active recreation opportunities include two golf courses, bowling, horseback riding, off-track betting and new multiplex movie theater. Ten restaurants serve a variety of American and ethnic foods; more providers are scheduled to open.

Kane County Forest Preserve District operates the nearby Red Oak Nature Center. It presents a variety of hands-on learning opportunities, childrenâ??s classes, and lectures. Bird watchers and nature observers enjoy the Center's natural inhabitants.

West Aurora School District 129 furnishes public education. Children attend one of three K-6 schools and one junior high school located in the Village. West Aurora High School, located in Aurora, has attained recognition for its academic programs, community involvement and athletic programs.

Several different denominations operate private schools, teaching classes from K-12; they are located within convenient driving distances. A 15-minute drive will take a student to one of three college/university-level institutions.
