The Barrington area encompasses approximately 95 square miles of unique glacial landscape and is located within the Fox River ecosystem. This unique landscape is what initially drew people to the area. Breathtaking in its beauty, this area is unsurpassed for its recreational activities. Another huge plus for the area is that is approximately 35 miles northwest of Chicago.

North Barrington today consists of approximately 3,000 residents, who are rightfully proud of their community and take great care to look after each other's well being. This is a very close knit community, with a strong sense of history, and of doing the right thing for your neighbor.

North Barrington is an interesting mix of rural and town, mostly because there are large areas of the land that have been left undeveloped to preserve the integrity of the glacial landscape. As a result most home sites are located within an area called Cuba Township, and therefore in Barrington School District. The other section where there are homes is in the eastern portion of North Barrington, within Ela Township, and is served by Lake Zurich School District.

This is primarily a residential suburb. Most homes here start in the mid $200,000's. For something a little larger, say 2,500 square feet and up, expect to spend upwards of $300,000. For an executive level home the going rate is around $400,000. Homes retain their value though, and a home purchased here is definitely a good investment.

With a climate that definitely favors the four seasons, there is always something to capture the heart of the outdoor lover! From skiing in the winter, to swimming in the summer, to hunting in the fall, and playing golf at least three of the seasons, North Barrington has it all!

North Barrington is a community with a distinctive "home town" atmosphere, a place where people really get to know their neighbors. However, a visitor could easily forget that this stunning, serene suburban village is only minutes away from Chicago, third largest city in the nation.
