People who live and work in the Village of Shiloh know the simple pleasures of small-town life, but at the same time, they enjoy all the benefits of a thriving metropolis. Located on the crest of a picturesque, unspoiled valley, Shiloh is encircled by several larger neighbors, including Belleville, Fairview Heights, O'Fallon, and Scott Air Force Base. Within the surrounding towns are numerous shopping centers, as well as the largest mall in Southern Illinois. In addition, Shiloh is only twenty minutes away from downtown St. Louis, Missouri, via Interstate 64.

But residents don't have to leave the Village to find excitement. A community of more than 7,643 people, Shiloh offers a number of educational and recreational activities throughout the year. These include arts and craft fairs, community dances, and an annual summer picnic. Many of these events take place in Shiloh's beautiful community park or in Klucker Hall, a community center located on the park grounds. The tree-shaded park boasts a picnic area, playground, and baseball, softball and soccer fields. Klucker Hall, which is available to all residents, is frequently the site of private parties, meetings and wedding receptions.

Although Shiloh residents adhere to traditional values, the Village is looking toward the future. Over the years Shiloh's population has progressively grown, in part because of Shiloh's outlook. The decision to expand light rail into the local area, combined with the approval of joint use of air facilities by the military and civilians at Scott Air Force Base, and construction of Mid America Airport ensures that Shiloh will continue to grow and prosper.
