On the sunny side of Louisville, on the banks of the Ohio River, is a town that more than 22,000 people and 600 businesses call home. Located between Jeffersonville and New Albany, Clarksville is a blend of old historic sites and new shopping, business and residential areas.

The Town of Clarksville, which bills itself as the "Oldest American Town in the Northwest Territory", was chartered in 1783 by the Virginia legislature. The original town was composed of 1,000 acres set aside from the grant of 150,000 acres the legislature donated to George Rogers Clark and his men.

Housing options are diverse and affordable. The average price for a new home is around $200,000. However there are many houses that cost considerably lower than that, while there are others that are expansive in size, and cost more than the average. Clarksville Little Theater, one of the oldest continuously running community theaters in the United States, and Derby Dinner Playhouse, the only dinner theater in the area, are located in the heart of the town and provide year-round entertainment.

Both Green Tree Mall and River Falls Mall are in Clarksville, which is unusual in a town this small. Sears, Penny's and Dillards, plus many specialty stores, are in the Green Tree Mall. Two movie theaters, are located adjacent to Green Tree Mall.

River Falls Mall has the River Fair Family Fun Park, River Falls Cinema and retail stores such as Bacons and Wal-Mart. With two such large shopping malls, many restaurants and motels, people come to Clarksville from all over Southern Indiana and Louisville.

After looking at all that Clarksville has to offer, it is easy to see why this area of Southern Indiana is called the "Sunny side" of Louisville!
