Crown Point Indiana is the capitol of Lake County with it’s proud old Lake County Courthouse now housing unique shops. The famous courthouse was dubbed the "marriage mill" where many famous marriages took place including Rudolf Valentino and Winifred DeWolf. The Lake County jail was the site of Dillinger’s escape. Crown Point is a close-knit, low crime city, with its historic downtown square, numerous unique shops, parks, golf courses, and other scenic locales; yet Crown Point is in close proximity with Chicago, Lake Michigan beaches, and area waterparks (a great place to raise kids!). Since 1852, The Lake County Fairgrounds of Crown Point, Indiana have been the proud site for the Lake County Fair. In early August, as it has for many years, the fairgrounds welcome thousands of visitors. The Lake County Fair is Indiana’s largest county fair and proudly hosts 4-H displays, agricultural showcases, entertainment events, food and craft booths. Six golf courses, including the newest, which houses Crown Point's newest luxury development featuring townhomes and single family homes, many on the golf course. White Hawk is an Arnold Palmer Golf franchise --- only the second facility to become a Palmer Golf.
