Edinburgh is a quiet little community nestled away in the far southeast corner of Johnson County, Indiana. Actually, though most of the town is in Johnson County, a significant part of it also spills over into neighboring Bartholomew County to the south, and into Shelby County to the east. It is the only municipality in Indiana to be located within three separate counties.Edinburgh is easily accessible by Interstate 65 and by U.S. highway 31. Only 30 miles from Indianapolis, it has the advantages of being close to big-city services while maintaining a small-town atmosphere. Edinburgh also has the advantage of close proximity to the Atterbury Fish and Wildlife Area, Johnson County Park, Atterbury Job Corps Center, Hoosier Horse Park, and the Indiana National Guard and Reserve Forces Training Area. These institutions add significantly to the economic stability of the Edinburgh area.
